Birdsboro-Union Fire Department, founded in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which provides fire suppression, rescue, QRS (Quick Response Service) EMS, and fire prevention services for the residents who live, work and travel through Birdsboro Borough and Union Township, Berks County Pennsylvania. Our coverage area spans 25 square miles in the Southeast corner of Berks County. Included in our coverage area are the Hopewell Furnace Historic Site and French Creek State Park.

Our department was established with the cooperation of the Friendship Fire Company #1 of Birdsboro, Union Fire Company #1 of Kulptown, the Birdsboro Borough Council, and the Union Township Board of Supervisors.

Currently, the department operates out of two stations; the main station (Station 1) is located at 214 W. First St, in the Borough of Birdsboro, our substation (Station 2) is located at 1082 Chestnut Street, Union Township.  Approximately 50 volunteer men and women contribute countless hours of time and manpower to protect our residents.  The annual operating budget is approximately $300,000.00, which is made up of municipal taxes, township contributions, state and federal grants, and residential donations. 

All of our units are dispatched through the Berks County Department of Emergency Services via the 9-1-1 Call Center located in Bern Township, PA.
