Vehicle Accident Closes Route 724 during Morning Rush

06:39 am: Company 7 was dispatched to the 1300 blk of Main Street, Union Township for a reported vehicle accident with injuries and a vehicle into a structure. When Assistant 7-1 (M. Hernandez) responded Berks County Communications advised him that the vehicle was not into the structure. Assistant 7-1 arrived and found a two vehicle accident which involved a utility pole. Southern Berks EMS (M680) evaluated the drivers while fire crews controlled fluids leaking from the auto. Fire Police from company 7 and 6 (Monarch) closed the roadway for about 3 hours while Windstream crews replaced the utility pole.
