01:21 hrs: Company 7, along with Rescue-Engine 6 (Monarch) and M680 Station 3 (Southern Berks EMS) were dispatched to the area of Route 724 and Red Corner Road for a report of a vehicle accident with injuries. Upon Chief 7's (Bickings) response, Berks County advised him that the caller was reporting a person impaled with a fence post. M680 arrived first to find a single vehicle accident with the operator impaled with a fence post. Unfortunately the operators injuries were fatal and the patient was pronounced dead at the scene by the Berks County Coroner. Crews remained on location for two and half hours while State Police and Berks County Coroner completed their investigation. Route 724 was closed between Shed Road and Red Corner Road until about 4:15 hrs.
