Two-Alarm Dwelling Fire in the Borough

08:46 Hrs: Birdsboro-Union Fire Department, along with Quint 6 (Monarch), Engine 25 (Exeter Township), Ladder 1 (Mt. Penn), Tanker 23 (Gilbraltar), Rescue 25 for RIT, and Medic 680 Station 2 (Southern Berks EMS) were alerted to the intersection of E. First and Walnut Sts, Birdbsoro Borough for a report house fire. Birdsboro Police were on scene quickly and confirmed a working fire with heavy fire from the rear of the dwelling. Engine 7 arrived within minutes of the dispatched and initiated an aggressive interior attack. A second alarm was requested by command for man power. Although there was no one home at the time of the fire, several family pets did perish in this blaze.
