| At 7:51 pm on Monday June 17th, the Twin Valley Fire Department(Chester County Station 69) was dispatched along with surrounding mutual aid companies to an Industrial Building Fire at the Raw Materials Building of Timet Corporation. Ambulance 89-1(Elverson EMS) arrived on location and reported fire showing in the garage of the Building. Ladder 69 arrived moments later and struck the second alarm, bringing Tower 7 to the scene. Upon arrival, Tower 7 was directed to the A-D corner of the building and was placed into service. The crew split and one team went to the roof for ventilation, while the other team laddered the building and assisted crews on the ground.
After an evaluation of the incident, a third alarm was struck, bringing Engine 7 to the scene. Upon arrival of Engine 7, the crew from the Tower and Engine gathered and crews were sent inside the building. Due to the type of material that was burning(Titanium Metal), no water could be used to extinguish the fire. Only foam and Class D(Metal) extinguishers could be used. Once in the building, firefighters used extinguishers and salt to control the fire.
Thank you to Engine 25(Exeter) for standing by in our station while crews were committed.
