At 1116hrs Company 7 was dispatched to a gas leak on Caravan Drive. Rescue 7 went responding within a minute after dispatched and arrived on location to be met by a construction crew at the corner of Carriage and Caravan Drive. The construction crew notified Lieutenant 7 that they had struck a 2" gas main in the street while boring under it. Asst. Chief Anderson arrived and had crews start evacuating the effected homes. Asst. Chief Anderson noticed the road way starting to form a large bubble in the middle of the road and the gas readings were becoming stronger. With the incident starting to escalate, Asst Chief Anderson requested Company 6 (Monarch) and the next due ladder, which brought Ladder 1 (Mt. Penn) to assist. UGI arrived on location and shut the main down and with our assistance checked to make sure no gas leaked into any homes. Once UGI gave the all clear, residents were allowed back in their homes and all companies went available.
